John Marchant of Mount Folly Farm was buried July 1 1902.

John, son of William and Nancy Marchant of Wickham, was christened 23 Mar 1817. John & Ann Marchant had five children all christened in Wickham parish: Jane, Edward, Alfred, Sidney & Kate.

In the 1851 census, John & Ann were living on High Street in Wickham and operating a "brewery, beer shop and lodging house". By 1861, they were operating a dairy on Winchester Road near Wickham, most likely at Castle Farm. In 1881, John and Ann (with children Kate & Sidney) were living on Mount Folly farm, leaving Castle Farm in the hands of their son Edward.

John and Ann's daughter Jane was christened on 21 August 1843 in Wickham parish. Jane worked as a lady's maid for the Rector of Bletchingly in Surrey for many years, eventually marrying John Talbot in 1891. She died 17 July 1903 at the Hospital For Women, Soho Square in London. Administration of her estate (valued at approximately £400) was granted to John Talbot butler. Jane's address in these probate records was listed as Mount Folly Farm Wickham near Fareham Hants.
