Thomas Allen

The many friends and acquaintances of the late Thomas Allen were saddened by the news of his death at 4:30 o'clock Sunday morning, June 19. He died suddenly in his bathroom in Green Street, AuSable Forks.

Born in Harkness on November 11, 1893, he was the son of Albert and Alice (Arnold) Allen. He lived at Arnold Hill for many years.

In 1945 he was married to Jennie Ryan who survives. They resided on Green Street since the date of their marriage.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Kate Fields and Mrs. Jennie Stafford, both of Rochester, and several stepchildren including Mrs. Morris King, Willsboro, Raymond Ryan of this village, Mrs. Ezra Richards, Jay, Mrs. Louis LaVarnway, Mrs. Robert Trumbull of Upper Jay, Mrs. Freeman Pelkey of Elizabethtown, Harold Ryan, Long Island, Mrs. Larry Hart, Emmett Ryan of town, Mrs. Peter Perkins, Clintonville, and Oscar Ryan of town.

Funeral services were held at the methodist church with Rev. Luther Taylor officiating. Prayers were said at the Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home before the funeral. Burial was in the Harkness cemetery.

Bearers were Thomas Wynn, Gordon Elliott, Lee Bigelow, Albert Forbes, Harold Smith, and Mike Burke.
