"Sidney Nolan Abbott, 81, of Alterra Clare Bridge, 1870 Rohrerstown Road, died there of natural causes Saturday evening. An engineer, he worked for Bechtel Corp. and as an inspector for the former United Engineers & Constructors, both of Philadelphia. Earlier, he worked eight years as a structural engineer at Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory, Boston. Abbott attended Franklin Institute of Boston. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II. He was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Born in Bonavista, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Llewellyn Wallace and Mary Skeffington Abbott. His wife, Marie L. Gorman Abbott, died in 1989. Surviving are twin daughters Jane and Janice Abbott, both of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by seven siblings."
