Doug was born March 6, 1945, in Plainview to Ed and Irene Burton. Doug lived in Plainview, Borger, California and Amarillo, where he graduated from Amarillo High School in 1963. He loved to learn and took numerous classes at Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University.

He worked at Maywood, the zinc smelter and had a 35-year career at Pantex. He retired from Pantex in 2005. After retirement Doug and Vickey became business owners in Amway. He loved mentoring and helping others in the business. He joined the Amarillo Downtown Lions Club and took such pride at being a member. Anytime they needed help with a special project he would volunteer to help. He had a special place in his heart for the Lions Club Children's Camp. The family thanks all our friends for their love, prayers and support. Our thanks goes to Pam and Beverly of Encompass Home Health that took care of him in the short time he was at home in the last few months.
