Hise Daniel "Pap" Steedley, 84, of Waycross died Thursday evening at Mayo Health Systems of Waycross after a short illness. He was born in Ware County to the late Theo Steedley and Carrie Williams and lived here all of his life. He retired from the Ware County Road Department in 1990 after 33 years of service. Mr. Steedley was a member of Open Door Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandmother, who raised him, Molly Steedley; his wife, Beulah Boyd Steedley; a step-daughter, Jenny Kent; one brother, Dub Steedley.

Survivors include one son, Danny Beecher of Waycross; six step-children, Patricia Thomas of Waycross, Ronnie Beecher and his wife Syble of Waycross, Reginald Beecher and his wife Eloise of Manor, Clyde Beecher of Waycross, Louise Suggs and her husband Carey of Homerville, Nellie Beecher of Baxley; one brother, Grady Steedley of Blackshear; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 pm at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in New Prospect Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home and will also be meeting at Mr. Steedley's residence, 3220 Minnesota Avenue.
