Obituary:
Mrs. D. D. Persons, of Rushford, died July 4, aged 67 years. Mrs. Persons was the mother of C.F. Persons, of the Olean Herald. [Published in "The Canaserga Times" Friday, July 15, 1887.]

Fred E. Persons, son of D. D. Persons, of Rushford, was taken violently insane Tuesday and knocked his father down and jumping upon him pounded his face badly. He then went outside the village and hid in the deep grass of a meadow where Officer Jagers found him and put him in the lockup to await the coming of attendants, who took him to the asylum. This is the sixth time in twelve years, that he has become insane, and after a few months of treatment in an asylum seems to recover and returns home.
