CLARENCE EDWARD ARMSTRONG, son of Joseph Harrison ARMSTRONG and #1 Emma S. STICKLER, died on 18 Feb 1975 at the age of 92 in Atlantic, Cass Co, IA. 92 years, 10 months and 9 days. He was buried on 21 Feb 1975 in WALNUT CATHOLIC CEM, Walnut IA.

Clarence Edward Armstrong, 92, Lewis area resident for 85 years, died last Tuesday afternoon at the Atlantic Care Center, where he had been a resident for five years.

He was born at Irwin, Shelby Co, IA on April 9, 1882, the eldest son of Joseph and Emma Stickler Armstrong, moved to Nebraska at age of 2, and returned to Iowa in 1889 in a covered wagon. He farmed his lifetime in Cass and Pottawattamie Counties, operated a steam threshing outfit for 20 years and a corn sheller for 67 years, starting in 1901.

He was married to Hester McCarty on Sept. 19, 1911, at Walnut and she preceded him in death in 1970.

Surviving are two sons, Lyle and Gail Armstrong, and a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Mildred) Buboltz, all of Lewis; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Ernest Armstrong of California.
Preceding him in death were a daughter, Louise in 1919; three brothers, Grover, Charley and Elmer Armstrong, and four sisters, Gertrude Robinson, Elizabeth Voss, Grace Paulsen and Bertha McCabe.

Funeral services were held Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Griswold with Msgr. J.L. Mackin officiating.
