Funeral services for George Benningfield, 69 years of age, were held Saturday, October 8 at 2:30 p.m. from the Muldraugh's Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. John Walls in charge, assisted by the Rev. D. L. Druien. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Benningfield, son of the late John and Eliza Ann Hardesty Benningfield, was born in Marion County, January 21, 1880. He died at his home in Taylor County Thursday, October 6, at 5:15 p.m. He had been in ill health for the past few years. He professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Muldraugh's Hill Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Sallie E. Newton December 6, 1899, she preceded him in death January 30, 1949. To this union four sons and four daughters were born. Surviving are Chester, Shelby, and Harry Benningfield, Mrs. Joe Richerson, and Mrs. Delmar Chaney, all of Taylor County; Omer Benningfield of Marion County; and Mrs. Ralph Whitehead of Louisville; also two brothers and two sisters, Jim and Robert Benningfield and Mrs. Jim Farmer, all of Marion County and Mrs. Elliott Raffety of Taylor County; one half-brother, Rev. Ligh Benningfield of Akron, Ohio; one half-sister, Mrs. Delma Brockman of Akron, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Obey Raffety, Ira England, Alvin Raffety, Roy Shanklin, A. E. Hickerson, and Omer Wise.
