IN MEMORY OF GEORGE W. WILLIAMSON
Towaliga Messenger, Vol. VII, No. 4, April 1894
UNCLE GEORGE was one of the oldest and most favorably known citizens in Pike county. Eighty-seven years old September 8th, 1893. Died at his home near Zebulon, January 3d, 1894. He was the noblest and best work of God, strictly an honest man. Never united with any church, but was a staunch Primitive Baptist in faith and general deportment.
He was happily united in marriage to MISS HARRIET E. BUCKALEW, May 7th, 1829, thus they fought the trials and hardships of life sixty-four years and over. She having united with the Primitive Baptist Church, and was baptized by Elder JOHN HAMBRIC, 1st Sunday in November, 1826, over three years before their marriage, made her to him an helpmeet indeed.
While she is in her 84th year at this time, we have requested her to give us a memorial of the particulars of the honest life, and success of her good, though departed husband. May the good Lord give her great strength, and enable her to comply with our request, and live on to be counted worthy [of] the glory and beauty of Zion.

Inscription
The pains of death are
past, labor and sorrow
cease. And life's long
warfare closed at last.
His soul is found in peace.
