United State Navy WWII Veteran. He served from June 28,1943 to April 3, 1946. His first ship was USS Elmore (APA42)and he took part in the actions in the Marshall Islands, Emerau Island and Guadalcanal, Guam and the Palaus. He then transferred to the training ship USS Wyoming (AG17) prior to his joining the first crew of the USS Antietam (CV36)in January 1945. Hostilities with Japan ceased while the ship was enroute to the far east, and the ship was assigned to provide occupational support duties.
