FROM THE HISTORY OF WRIGHT COUNTY, MN BY FRANKLYN CURTISS-WEDGE VOLUME 1, 1915:

Mr. & Mrs. Michael C. O'Donahue. Michael O'Donahue was born in Ireland and there married Bridget O'Loughlin. In 1858 they came to Wright County, and secured a homestead of 160 acres in section 10, French Lake Township, which at that time was covered with timber. They made a clearing, erected a log cabin and started farming in the wilderness. Gradually they cleared the land and developed a good farm. At the outbreak of the Civil War Mr. O'Donahue enlisted in the second MN Volunteer Infantry and served until the close of the conflict. While in the South he contracted a fever from which he never fully recovered. In 1884 the cabin was burned and a frame house was erected in its place. As time passed suitable barns and shed were also constructed. Mr. & Mrs. O'Donahue were among the most prominent and respected people in the community. They gave their adopted son a good home and parental affection and their names will ever be revered. For several years Mr. O'Donahue was county commissioner. For twenty years he was township clerk, and served as justice of the peace about the same time period. He also served for a time on the township board. He died August 11, 1896, at the age of sixty two. Mrs. O'Donahue now lives at Maple Lake at the age of seventy eight. Charles J. Mabus has always remained on the farm of his foster parents. He was educated in the district schools and was reared to farm pursuits. In 1896 he came into possession of the home place. His farm consists of 120 acres of good land in section 10, where he sucessfully carries on general farming. He makes a specialty of raising Durham cattle, Percheron horses and Chester White swine. Mr. Mabus was married October 20, 1903, to Helen Cassidy, who was born in Clearwater Township, April 16, 1884, daughter of John and Catherine (Connely) Cassidy, of Clearwater Township. Mr. & Mrs. Mabus have six children: Irene Klingelhut, born July 24, 1904; Catherine, born October 16, 1905; Mildred, born June 17, 1907; Theresa, born March 26, 1909; Lila, born February 19, 1911; Ruth, born November 5, 1912.
