William "Bill" H. Stoewer, 84, formerly of Moline, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2012.

Memorial services will be held at noon Friday, June 8, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1611 41st St. Moline, where friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, at Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to: Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church, 1509 27th Ave., Minneapolis, MN. 55418 or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL. 60601-7633 www.alz.org.

Bill grew up in Galena, Ill., served in the United States Army, First Calvary Division, in two tours of duty; 1946-1947 and also during 1951. He attended college at the University of Illinois, where he met his wonderful wife, Faye.

He was the city engineer for Moline from 1956 to 1973 and then branched out on his own, creating Stoewer Engineering & Associates and Cloverleaf Mobile Home Park of Moline.

For the past six years, Bill and Faye have resided in Roseville, Minn., to be near their sons. He and Faye enjoyed many world travels. They spent winters in Tempe, Ariz., surrounded by friends and warm weather.

Bill was a kind, loving man who helped many young people start on the road to success. We thank God for his life.

Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Faye Allyn; loving father and grandfather to son Greg (Mary) and children Lai Xin & Yiyuan, son Jon (Cindy) and children Alex and Rachel. Bill is also survived by his brother-in-law Red Nichols and his five daughters; sister-in-law, Anastasia, and her daughter. Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry and Sarah; sister, Doris; and loving uncle, Stewart Richards.
