Alton T. Ackers, 84, of Stafford died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, VA.

Mr. Ackers served as a Trustee at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Stafford.

Mr. Ackers was a hard-working and dedicated person. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Carolyn E. Ackers, Margaret A. Parker, and Yvonne D. Washington all of Stafford; one son, Ralph A. Ackers (Veronica) of Spotsylvania; three sisters, Ethel Hawkins (Richard) of Stafford, Maggie Curtis (Raymond) of Silver Spring, MD, and Catherine Toles (Hilburn) of Ohio; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A public viewing will begin at 4 p.m., Friday, June 8, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg. The funeral will be held at Noon, Saturday, June 9, with a viewing one hour prior at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 395 Mount Olive Road, Stafford. The Rev. George A. Langhorne will officiate. Interment will follow in Stafford Memorial Park, 154 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford.
