Dessie married first to Leslie Riley Lewis in
Lawrence Co.,Missouri, April 11, 1925.
Their son Leslie Jr. was born in Missouri and the young family moved to Maricopa Co, by 1930.They went to Arizona hoping that the climate would be healthier for Leslie as he suffered with Tuberculosis , however he died just ten years later at the young age of thirty-seven.

Dessie later married Fred Wilbanks (1903-1974).

Dessie G. Wilbanks, 77, a homemaker, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1982, in a Valley nursing home. Services for Mrs. Wilbanks, a Peoria resident, were today. She was born in Louisburg, Missouri, and moved to Arizona 53 years ago from Missouri. She had lived in Peoria since 1968 and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Leslie Lewis; two sisters; a brother; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
