Retired Mississippi Lumberman Dies at age of 79
Services for Thomas J. Head, retired Mississippi lumberman who died at 2:40 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Joseph's Hospital , will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at National Funeral Home . The Reverend Lud H. Estes will officiate and burial will be at Elmwood. Mr. Head was 79 and lived at 721 Eva.
He was born near Frankfort, Ky., and left there in 1889 to enter the lumber business in Indiana. Later he moved his business to Mississippi and operated in various parts of the Delta. He had made his home in Memphis for 31 years and had been retired for the last 10 years.
He leaves two daughters , Mrs. B.J. Cara and Mrs. A.M. Day and four sons O.L. Head , B.F. Head , J.L. Head, and A.O. Head all of Memphis ; two sisters Mars. Nancy Calvert of Frank and Mrs. Cordia Newman of Stamping Grounds . Ky; and two brothers Will Baldwin also of Stamping Grounds and Gran Baldwin of Lexington, Ky.
