Mr. Elmer B. Acree, 81, of Dalton, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was the son of the late J. P. and Elsie Cline Acree and was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Christopher Bruce Acree; brothers, L. R. Acree and Louis Acree; sister, Johnnie Roberts and nephew, Allan Acree. Elmer was a graduate of Valley Point High School in 1949 and was a proud member of the Valley Point Alumni Association. He was founder and owner of Acree Propane, which celebrates 25 years in September. He was in the propane business for 40 years and prior to that was the manager at the local Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He was a member of the Dalton Lions Club for 47 years. He was also a member of the Catamount Band Club where he was awarded a lifetime membership and where he also served with the concession club for 20 years. Elmer is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marthel Ewton Acree of Dalton; sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Dora Acree of Dalton and Bryan Acree of Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Todd Painter of Dalton; grandchildren, Tori and Andrew McGinnis of Knoxville, TN, Lacy and Jeremy Evans of Dalton and Susan and Chad Mullinax of San Antonio, TX; great-grandchildren, Zander McGinnis, Molly McGinnis, Shelbi Mullinax, Sydni Mullinax, Caeli Evans and Sophia Evans; sisters, Betty Barton of Dallas, GA and Martha Davis of Cleveland, TN; special aunt, Lonnie Pinion; sisters-in-law, Juanita Stone of Dalton, Bernice Stark of Jacksonville, FL. and Cheryl Smith of Chattanooga; special grand dog, Harley. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Dr. Larry Wood officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 9 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Dalton Lions Club, P.O. 934, Dalton, Ga. 30722-0934 or to the Catamount Band Club, P.O.
