ALDENIA CARSTENSEN
Aldenia Carstensen, age 77, of Stanwood, Iowa, died Saturday, November 27, 1993 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after a short illness. She was born at Somers, Iowa, on March 17, 1916, the daughter of Charles and Anna Rose Martin Pierce and received her education in Somers.
Aldenia married John Carstensen on December 21, 1942 at Maquoketa, and the couple made their home in Wyoming, Iowa. Soon they began farming southeast of Wyoming. In 1963 they purchased their farm near Clarence, where they farmed until retiring to Stanwood in 1982. John died in 1984.
Aldenia lived in Stanwood until her health required her to move to a care center in Cedar Rapids in May of this year.
She is survived by two daughters Karen Rouse of Houston, Texas, and Judy (Mrs. Don) Anderson of Cedar Rapids, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and two sisters Amanda Scroggins of Lake City, Iowa, and Lindy Gies of Torrance, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a two year old son Ronald Duckett, one brother Milton Pierce, and two sisters Edith McGinnis and Valeria Briggs.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 30, 1993 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hayden Funeral Home in Wyoming, Iowa, where friends called from 3-8:00 P.M. Monday. Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery.
Rev. Jaymee Glenn-Burns officiated. Casket bearers were Donald Carstensen, Dennis Carstensen, Daryl Carstensen, Tom Paulsen, August Paulsen, and Richard Bahnsen.
