Robert Lee Bass, former resident of this section and a retired lumberman, died in a Houston hospital Monday following an illness of several weeks. He was 76 years of age. The body was brought to Beaumont Tuesday by the Carroll-Wallace funeral home. Final rites will be held at the company's chapel at 4 p.m. Tuesday with interment in Magnolia cemetery. The Rev. John Rentfro, pastor of Roberts Avenue Methodist church, will officiate. Surviving are one son, Ray E. Bass of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Sam Cohen of Long Beach Calif., two sisters and one brother. Mr. Bass's late wife was buried here in 1945.
