Ole Martin Kristiansen was born in Akershus Co., Norway and married Anna Kjerstine Olsen on 5 June 1876, also in Norway. Their first two sons and a daughter were also born in Norway, son George was born in Illinois in 1882. By 1884 the family had settled in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He worked for as a laborer before purchasing a farm in the Town of Hallie in Chippewa County.
