Charlotte Ann was the daughter of John Snodgrass and Matilda (Cooley) Stuart Snodgrass Ellithorpe from Montgomery Co and Wythe Co, Virginia. Her mother Matilda was youngest daughter of Thaddeus and Elizabeth Cooley, listed in her father Thaddeus' will as Matilda Stuart. John was son of Alexander Snodrass and Rebecca Devor.

Charlotte's father John died c1834 in Rush Co, IN, and her mother remarried Samuel Ellithorpe in La Porte Co, IN in Jan 1840. Charlotte married Thomas MC Logan on 17 Feb 1851
in La Porte Co, Indiana. Thomas and Charlotte moved to Richland Co, Ill in late 1850s, then to Linn Co, Iowa in 1860s.

Charlotte and Thomas had the following children:
