Decaturville, TN - Vernon R. Adkisson, 82, retired timber buyer, died of heart failure Monday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, where he was a member, with burial in the church cemetery. Parsons Memorial Funeral Home has charge.
He was a member of Old Center Lodge and had previously served as county commissioner of Decatur County.
Mr. Adkisson, the husband of Vallie Magers Adkisson, also leaves a daughter, Melba Keeton of Bath Springs; a son, Danny Adkisson of Decaturville; two brothers, Willie Adkisson of Milan and Albert Adkisson of Decaturville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
