Robert M. Colborn was the son of Jonathan & Susan (Skinner) Colborn.

He married Rebecca Elizabeth Hazelton on 10 Nov 1831 in Perry Co., OH. They had at least seven children, all born in Perry Co., OH:

- Catherine "Kate" Colborn Adams Blake Danison (1837-1912)
- Elizabeth Jane Colborn Adams (1840-1910)
- Susannah Colborn Juniper (abt 1842-1868)
- Mary Ann Colborn Puterbaugh (1844-1923)
- Christopher C. Colborn (1847-1919)
- Lydia C. Colborn Allen (1851-1916)
- Eliza Jane Colborn Miller (abt 1858-aft 1870)

(Note: Robert's obituary stated: "He united with the First Baptist Church in New Lexington about fifteen years ago, and the funeral services were held there Saturday afternoon, on which occasion an appropriate sermon was preached by Rev. L. C. Ruffner, after which the mortal remains were interred in the churchyard adjacent." The only Baptist cemetery that I can find in New Lexington is the Old Baptist Cemetery, so I am going to assume that is the correct cemetery unless I find information that indicates otherwise.)

OBITUARY
(New Lexington Tribune, Jan 4, 1894)

Colborn -- At the residence of his son-in-law, Joseph Adams, on Western Avenue, New Lexington, last Friday morning, December 29, 1893, Robert Colborn in the 85th year of his age.

Robert Colborn, son of Jonathan Colborn, was born in Somerset Co., Pa., March A. D. 1809, and at his death lacked only about two months of being 85 years old. He came to Perry Co., Ohio in 1829, and three years later was united in marriage with Miss Rebecca Hazelton, of Saltlick Twp., the same county. He lived in this county the remainder of his life, excepting two or three years spent at or near Pleasantville, Fairfield Co., along in the seventies. He was bereft of his wife nearly twenty years ago. His living children are Mrs. Joseph Adams, of New Lexington, Mrs. Catherine Blake and Mrs. Samuel Puterbaugh, of the vicinity, Mrs. Simeon Allen of Redfield, and Christopher Colborn of McLuney. Susan, who grew to womanhood and intermarried with Absalom Juniper, died several years ago. There are twenty-three grandchildren, and about the same number of great-grandchildren. Robert Colborn was possessed of a remarkable mind and memory, as every one knows whoever conversed with him to any great extent. He knew the United States contemporaneously since the first election of Andrew Jackson, President in 1828. He was himself a Whig and Republican, having voted for William Henry Harrison in 1836 and 1840 and Benjamin Harrison in 1888 and 1892, and all the Republican candidates for President. He had his own views on religion, politics and public questions in general, but his mind was a liberal, charitable mold. He never willfully and knowingly wronged anyone, and the worst that could be said against him was that he was poor. He united with the First Baptist Church in New Lexington about fifteen years ago, and the funeral services were held there Saturday afternoon, on which occasion an appropriate sermon was preached by Rev. L. C. Ruffner, after which the mortal remains were interred in the churchyard adjacent.
