The funeral of Mrs. Margery Talmadge, wife of C. V. Talmadge, of Courtland, one of the oldest settlers along the Sacramento River, took place yesterday from his
residence, and the remains were interred in the City Cemetery. Beautiful floral offerings adorned the casket and the grave, and the ceremony was very impressive. The pall-hearers were: Hon. Sol. Runyon, Hon. Dwight Hollister, Hon.
William Johnston, Mr. Bates, Mr. Olsen and John Crofton. Mrs. Talmadge was the mother of a family of eight children, most of whom have grown to be men and women. (Sacramento Daily Union 4/1/1891)
