After living with a broken heart since his beloved wife died on November 28, 1999, along with the courageous battle with cancer, our dearest father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was finally able to rest in heavenly peace.

He was born on May 1, 1924 in El Valle, New Mexico to Rubel and Refugio Abeyta Aguilar. He married his life and love, Maria Cedelia Armijo on June 25, 1946. Jose served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army.

He leaves behind his daughters: Aileen (David) Garcia, Connie Aguilar-McCowan, Marlyne (Mike) Pearson, Sandy (Fred Aguilar); along with his brothers: Abe (Corde) Aguilar, Sam (Angie) Aguilar; sister, Dora (Medardo) Velarde; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife; daughter and son-in-law, Geneva Rose and Fred Marquez; son, Fred Melvin; parents; five brothers, and three sisters.

Mass will be conducted on Friday, April 4, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South Redwood Road. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00 -7:00 p.m., Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. Funeral directors Redwood Memorial Mortuary. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road.
