Gary Ault, 72, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with a rosary and an evening service at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Gary is survived by his wife, Donna; three children, Rick (Angie) Ault, Michael Ault (Lisa Ault), and Christine Johnson; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brother, Norman Thorsen and sister, Lois Aukland.

Gary was born on May 24, 1940 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Robert and Myrtle Ault. He attended school in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1959. In 1957 he joined the US Army Reserves and in 1959 after gratuating High School he re-enlisted in the regualr Army. Gary spent 3 yrs in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1963. On September 5, 1964 he was united in marriage to Donna Zeka at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa where they subsequently made their home. Gary worked several jobs in his lifetime including Franklin Mfg.Co, in Webster City, Iowa, Chief Industries, Inc. Fort Dodge, St. Edmond's High School in Fort Dodge, and Tassler Pallet and Lumber Co. in Webster City, Iowa. He retired in 1990 after a work related injury. Gary was an active member of his community serving as Boy Scout leader, Al-A-Teen Sponsor, and was a member of Holy Rosary Church and New Covenant Christian Church. Gary enjoyed fishing, golfing, shopping for antiques, spending time with friends and family, listening to music, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gary entered Freindship Haven in 2007 where he remained active until his death by serving on the Resident council, making various craft items for the activity department, making birthday cards for both residents and staff and many other various activities. Gary touched the lives of many people with his smile, and generosity toward others. Gary always thought of others before himself.

Christopher (Rebecca) Edwards, Matthew Ault, Danielle Ault, Andrea Ault, Jamie Johnson, Andrew Johnson, and Brandon Johnson. 2 great-grandchildren, Katelynn Edwards, and Daniel Edwards. 1 brother Norman (Rose) Thorson, and 1 sister Lois (Robert) Aukland and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gary was preceeded in death by his father Robert Ault, mother Myrtle Ault, father-in law- Frank Zeka, mother-in-law Gladys Zeka, sisters Marie Taylor, Elsie Sestak, Betty Smith, Carrie Lou Ault and 1 brother Robert Ault.
