Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Bonnie Flanakin; children, Debbie Brown and Robert "Rusty" Flanakin and his wife, Ann; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Sally Sharp, Sammy Reeves, Mary Jean Neely, Mulqueen Lindsey and her husband, Carl, Virginia Baker, Betty Flanakin, PeeWee Flanakin and his wife, Glenda, and Austene Kilpatrick.
Julian is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Flanakin; and sisters, Eunice Bledsoe, Vernice Woods, Dolly Gammill, Frenchie Flanakin, Inez Sharp, Essie Warden, and Bobbie Flanakin.
Burial: R. S. Farmer Cemetery, Silsbee, Texas.
