Died at age 83 in Los Angeles, California. Civil War veteran. Enlisted at age 18 on August 5, 1862, for a three-year term. Wounded Oct. 8, 1863 at battle of Perryville, Ky. Discharged Jan. 1, 1863, to enlist in Co. C, 1st Mississippi Marine Brigade. Military information found on NARA films M1290 Roll 33 and M522 Roll 17 and at http://tinyurl.com/6tnu8

Was listed in the Mountain View Cemetery directory inventoried by Mrs. Edward Morse of the DAR in 1930-1933, compiled by Margaret J. Schulz, and published by The Southern California Genealogical Society, Burbank, California.

Pasadena Star News – February 9 1931. Dr. Gideon S. Case, 83, a resident of Pasadena since 1892, died at the home of his son at Modesto, Cal., February 6. Beside his son, L. J. Case, he leaves a grandson, John G. Case of Pottstown, Pa. He was a member of Corona Lodge, A. F. & A. M.; John Godfrey Post, G. A. R.; past medical director, G. A. R. Department of Michigan, representing at one time, this district in the California Assembly. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, at the chapel of Turner & Stevens Company, Marengo avenue at Holly street, in charge of the G. A. R. Burial will be at Mountain View.
