CROCKETT COURIER, Dec. 15, 1927: "Mr. C.B. Isbell died about 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the family home in the Arbor community. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the English cemetery in the eastern part of this county. Interment following in that cemetery. Mr. Isbell was more than 80 years old. Born in Alabama, he came to Tyler county with his family when a boy, spending most of his early life near Woodville, from where he moved to Limestone county to reside for a few years. He had lived in Houston county more than fifty years.

Mr. Isbell was twice married, and leaves a widow and several step-children, among whom is Miss Ruth Easterly, who resided with Mr. and Mrs. Isbell. ...(illegible)..in Tyler county. The deceased was well and favorably known in this county, having served several terms as county commissioner. He was a member of the Methodist church, and was known as a Christian man and as a valuable citizen. In his passing Houston county loses one of its oldest and best citizens. The Courier extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends."

C.B. Isbell was the son of Barnabas Wallace and Susan Smyth Isbell. He married (1) Amanda C. McCartney Allison in Tyler county on Jan. 13, 1870. She died in 1908. He married (2) Emma Lou Campbell Easterly on Dec. 17, 1908 in Houston county. She died in 1953 and is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Houston county.
