William J. Foster, 72, retired Maroa Cemetery sexton, died June 14 at Decatur Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted the previous day. He had been a resident of the Maroa area for 33 years.
He was born Aug. 28, 1896 in Dewitt County, the son of Lewis and Mary Belle Davis Foster. On Oct. 17, 1926 he married Sarah Jane Shaw of Argenta, in Clinton. She survives.
Others he leaves include daughters Lila of Maroa and Mrs. Keith (Floy) Fort of Lockport; a son William E. of Maroa; sisters Mrs. Lulu Dusenberry and Mrs. Ted (Eleanor) Roseman, both of Clinton and five grandchildren.
Four sisters, two brothers and twin granddaughters preceded him in death.
Services were conducted on Monday afternoon by Rev. Wallace Watson in the Dawson-Wikoff Funeral HOme. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Harold Dunham, William Berry, Robert Wentworth and Irwin Marshall. They were accompanied by Mrs. Leroy Wilson, organist.
Burial was in Maroa Cemetery. Nephews who were bearers are Don Dusenberry, Clarence Webb, Raymond Webb, Virgil Cobb, Edison Cobb and Kenneth Roseman.
