Fred married Julia An Garrison (linked below) on February 6, 1906, and their union produced three surviving sons: Theodore Roosevelt, James Herschel, and Arlie F. Collie (all linked below). Fred and Julia settled in the area around Saint Joe, Arkansas (Searcy County), but also lived in Marion and Van Buren counties.
Son James Herschel contracted polio as a child, and although he survived, he was disabled and lived with his parents his entire life. Fred's other sons Theo and Arlie were drafted in World War II; Theo worked as a cook in the Army and was never deployed overseas, but Arlie perished in the war during the first phase of the Bougainville campaign in the Pacific. Fred passed away a few years after this in 1950, one day after his 82nd birthday, and is interred at Freck Cemetery, where his widow and sons Herschel and Theo would also lie in rest. Fred's sons never produced any children.
