SAVAGE, Willie Alan "Bill"; born. August 8, 1911, Alsey, Illinois. Bill passed away on July 12, 1994, in Carrollton, Illinois and was buried in Glasgow Cemetery, in Green County, Glasgow, Illinois. Bill married first to Pansy Dirkens in 1931, she preceded him in death. I believe she passed away in Los Angeles, California. He married second to Mildred Dale in 1945. She preceded him in death as well. Bill married a third time to my Aunt, Ruby B. Williams-Schofield in 1972. Interestingly, Ruby's brother is my father and Ruby's first husband (Schofield) was my mother's brother. Uncle Bill was my mother's cousin and Brother-in-law! Bill's father was Hardin Savage and his mother, Sarah Clanton. He is survived by his third wife, four sons: Gary Savage of Fayetteville, GA, Kenny Savage of Springfield and Mic Savage of Griffin, Ga; four daughters: Janice Six of White Hall, Mrs. George (Brenda) Cowper of Glasgow, Mrs. Kevin (Gena) Boyd of Granite City and Mrs. Robert (Alissa) Brooks of Patterson; two stepchildren: Mrs. Doug (Sherrill) Weddersten of Roodhouse and Raymond Schofield of White Hall; 16 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister: Mrs. Joe (Elsie) Kennedy of Bethalto; and one brother: Donald Savage of Jacksonville; Preceded by an infant twin brother; and two older brothers: Wendell Wayne and Leonard Savage.

Uncle Bill drove the big tractors and was always quick with a harrowing story of his work in the big timber and clearing vast acres of land. He was very interested in our Indian ancestry line through the Clanton side of the family and gathered many sworn and notarized affidavit‎s from some of the areas local people who were 90 years old when their statements were notarized in the 1940's.
