William Penn Webster III, (aka Jr.) of Belk, AL went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on 31 May 2012 with his loving family and several friends gathered by his bedside and his son on the phone listening in Idaho. What a blessing and pouring out of love to be able to praise the Lord in all circumstances, even death.

William "Bill", 75, son of William Penn and Viola Mae Jenkins Webster was born 4 Aug 1936 in Sunnyside, Yakima Co., Washington. He graduated High School at Kennewick High School, Kennewick, WA in 1954. After graduation he joined the U. S. Navy Seabees serving in California and the Philippines. He then joined and served four years in the U. S. Air Force serving at Columbus AFB, Mississippi where he met the love of his life, Helen Moore, daughter of Charlie S and Addie Lou Godfrey Moore originally from Belk in Fayette Co., AL, then living in Columbus. In December 1959 he was gloriously saved and began a new life in Christ. He & Helen were married 16 Jan 1960, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Lowndes County, MS by the Rev. Eugene Junkin. They were blessed with two children; William Dean Webster and Sandra Renee' Webster Drapo.

Bill loved his Lord, his family, his church, his friends and his nation. His greatest desire in life was to glorify the name of Jesus and lead others to salvation in Him. Having four great-grandchildren was an added blessing in the past few years, something he never expected to see.

In 1963 he began working at Southern Bell Telephone in Columbus, MS. He installed the first push button phone in the State of Mississippi. Later the company split into baby Bells. Other Bell Systems he worked for were South Central Bell, Pacific Northwest Bell, U. S. West, Qwest which is now Century Link.

Bill was ordained 10 Sept 1972 as a Deacon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Lowndes Co., MS in the church he was saved in. In 1973 he felt the Lord calling him and his family into Mission Work in the Northwest United States. After selling their home and belongings, except personal items, he transferred with the phone company to Pacific Northwest Bell in Grangeville, ID. They arrived in October 1975 with 8 inches of snow on the ground. There they spent the next 25 years working in churches in the Whispering Pines Southern Baptist Association. He served as the first deacon in Mountain Shadows Baptist Church. The Church was meeting in the Odd Fellows Hall when the family arrived in Idaho. He helped with construction of that church building, even going into the mountains to cut cedar for shakes to go on the roof.

He served as a Lay Preacher in many churches in the Association. He was always willing to fill the pulpit when asked. He was a student and a teacher of the Bible. He taught all ages, from children to adults. He served as Moderator of Mountain Shadows Baptist Church when they were without a pastor. He served on the Executive Board of the UT-ID Southern Baptist Convention in Salt Lake City, UT. He was Moderator of Whispering Pines Association for many years. He was Interim Pastor at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Kamiah, Idaho for one year.

In 1992 Bill retired after 30 year's service with the Bell Systems. At that time he was with U. S. West Communications. In 2000 he and his wife moved to Alabama on the Moore home place near Belk where his wife was born.

He served with Mission Service Corp. of Alabama SBC until his health began to fail. He was most recently a member of Belk Free Will Baptist Church which he loved so much.

He was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma on 28 Feb. 2012 which was already in the final stage. He spent the time he had left enjoying his family and being a witness of his faith in Christ to others, even unto death.
