Lady Mae Burleson, age 85, of Athens, AL, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at her residence.


Ms. Burleson was born October 1, 1926 in Limestone County, AL, to William Edward King and Mary Melvina Jones King.


Ms. Burleson was a member of the New Like Baptist Church.


She was preceded in death by three sons, James Marshall Gary Turner, Dwight Earp and Ricky Eugene Pirtle; daughter, Angela Darlene Pirtle; three brothers, William King, Arnie King and Clinton King; and two sisters, Effie Childers and Edna McConnell.


Survivors include 11 children, Linda Jones, Kathey Pressnell, Dallas Pirtle, Tommy Pirtle, Sandy Pirtle, Jeannie Robertson, all of Athens, Carol Barnes of Ardmore, TN, Tim Turner, Vanessa Craig, both of Athens, Penny Moore of Elkmont and Amanda Reyer of Athens; four step-children; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; sister, Ida Belle Huber.


Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bill Davis officiating. Burial will be in Copeland Cemetery.
