SOUTH BEND - Bill J. Bradberry, residing in South Bend, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2012, at Caring Junction, Mishawaka. He was 91 years old. He was born July 6, 1920, in Leslie, Arkansas, a son of Thomas Jefferson & Effie Leona (Pratt) Bradberry. He moved to South Bend in 1949, coming from Arkansas.

On February 10, 1945, in Phenix City, Alabama, he was united in marriage to Iva Lois Boswell. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until her passing on September 29, 2004. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Selma Grubbs; and four brothers, Dean, Earl, James & Troy Bradberry.

In 1956 he founded the Bradberry Brothers Excavating Company in South Bend, and remained as president until his passing. He became a member of Calvary Temple on August 25, 1955, and served in leadership as an Elder for more than 50 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW II. Bill loved his boat and going fishing, and enjoyed old cars. He had a great passion for Missions in Peru.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Sandra & James Perkins, and Linda & Rev. Bill Howell, all of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Bill (Jennifer) Sailors Jr. of South Bend, Jessica (Eric) Kessler of Bremen, Joshua (Christy) Howell of Seattle, WA, Nathan (April) Howell of South Bend, Jeff (Londy) Perkins, Kevin Perkins, Heather (Dan) Oberg, Jeremy Perkins and Melissa (Jeremy) Johnston, all of South Bend; ten great-grandchildren, Kirsten & Jordan Sailors, Alissa Kessler, Macie, Emma & Evan Howell, Blake, Braden & Noah Oberg, and Alissia Johnston; and one great-great-grandchild, Ember Sailors. Bill is also survived by two sisters, Nellie Eggers of South Bend, Glenda B. (Mike) Spirito of Elkhart; and two sisters-in-law, Kitty Bradberry of South Bend and Kathleen Bradberry of Osceola.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Southgate Church, 3717 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Bill Howell, Rev. Edgar Cabello and Rev. Willie Coates will officiate. Graveside services with military rites will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend.
