Sabin Mann's co. of Medfield militia; return of train band with equipments dated June 10, 1776; age, 17 yrs.; detached May 27, 1776; enlisted into the army July -, 1776; also, same co.; list dated Medfield, July 27, 1776, of men who enlisted for service at Canada agreeable to resolve of June 25, 1776; also, same co.; list of men raised agreeable to orders of [p.585] General Court of June 25, 1776, and July 11, 1776, to reinforce Continental Army at Canada; enlisted to serve until Dec. 1, 1776, unless sooner discharged; also, Corporal, same co.; list of men drafted to march on a secret expedition to Rhode Island for 30 days from Oct. 1, 1777, agreeable to a warrant issued by Col. Hawes Sept. 25, 1777; also, Capt. Ezekiel Plimpton's co., Col. Benjamin Hawes's regt.; enlisted Sept. 25, 1777; discharged Oct. 28, 1777; service, 1 mo. 7 days, travel included, on a secret expedition to Rhode Island.

William located in the north part of the town where his father had lived. He married in 1779 Hannah Peters (12). He received a commission as captain of the military of this town in 1790, served eight years as a member of the board of selectman, and appears to have taken an active interest in the affairs of the town. He died in 1825, his wife in 1850."
