Mr. Pettus is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Helen (nee: Banes) Pettus, whom he married June 3, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Leadwood, Missouri, his three sons, James Lee (Karen) Pettus of Columbia, South Carolina, William Harold (Patricia) Pettus of Highland, Illinois, and Randall (Karie) Pettus of Yuma, Arizona, his brother, Ellis (Ethel) Pettus of Salem, Missouri, his two sisters, Mrs. Marilyn Dooros of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mrs. Shirley (Larry) Templeton of Green Valley, Arizona, his nine grandchildren, Michael Pettus, Jennifer Pettus, Daniel (Janna) Pettus, Jason Pettus, Trevor Pettus, Christina (Grant) Jones, Joshua Pettus, Jakob Pettus and Maggie Pettus, and his two great-grandchildren, Alexandra Treadwell and Thaddeus Jones.
Mr. Pettus is preceded in death by his parents William and Waneetie (Harris) Pettus, his brothers, Robert, Marvin, Glenn and Gene Pettus, and a sister, Eula Rentfro.
VISITATION: Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2007 after 4:00 P.M. and on Saturday, February 10, 2007 after 8:30 A.M. at the Bethel Baptist Church until time of service at 10:00 A.M. Brother Timothy Lewis officiating. Interment will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Illinois.
Memorials for Mr. Pettus may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund or Bethel Baptist Church Youth Program.
