BELLEVILLE - Camie Rayann Cripe, age 6, of Belleville, IL, passed away at 7:37 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Children's Hospital at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. The funeral service in her honor will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938. Reverend Richard Coen and Reverend Dr. John Connett will officiate. Interment will be in Humboldt Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Wednesday evening, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Camie was born February 18th, 2005, in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Curtis E. and Ashley A. (Prewitt) Cripe. She is survived by her parents, Curtis Cripe of Mattoon, IL, and Ashley Briggs and husband Jared of Fairview Heights, IL; two step-sisters, Aliyah Briggs of Trilla, IL, and Alexis Thompson of Fairview Heights, IL; paternal grandparents, Richard Cripe of Windsor, IL and Karen and Darrell Barnes of Mattoon, IL; maternal grandparents, Bob and Nancy Prewitt of Mattoon, IL; and maternal great grandparents, Merle Waggoner of Mattoon, IL and Myrtle Thompson of Mattoon, IL. She also leaves several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Camie was an inspiration to all who witnessed her courageous battle with Leukemia. She was a bright and beautiful little girl who was happiest when riding her bicycle. She was also a bit of a "girly" girl who loved playing dress up, wearing makeup and having her nails done.
Memorials in her honor may be made to the family in care of Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938.
