on May 28, 2012:

This week we are called upon to chronicles the death of Nicholas Beckrich, a prominent farmer of Eagle Creek which occurred at his home Friday morning, August 14th. Deceased had been in poor health for months, suffering from the effects of cancer of the stomach, and for two weeks preceding his death had been confined to his bed. Mr. Beckrich was one of the best known residents of Eagle Creek, who had won the respect and esteem of his neighbors and friends by an honest and industrious life, and in his death the community loses a good citizen and his family a kind and loving husband and father.

He was born at Schockville, Belgium in 1846 and came to America with his parents in 1864, settling in Eagle Creek where he continued to reside throughout his lifetime. His marriage to Miss Catherine Pauly of Chanhassen took place in 1874. Nine children were born to them, one son Henry preceding his father to the grave several years ago. Surviving Mr. Beckrich are his wife; six sons, Nicholas and John of Shakopee; Matt, Dominic, Peter and Emil at home; and two daughters, Mrs. Henry Marschall of Eagle Creek, and Mrs. Matt Bauer of Cannon Falls.

The funeral was held Monday morning at nine o'clock from St. Mark's Church in this city, and was very largely attended. Rev. Mons. Plut conducted the burial services and the remains were laid to rest in the upper Catholic Cemetery.

A large number of relatives and friends were in attendance at the funeral from distant points including Minneapolis, Chanhassen, Marystown, Cannon Falls, Hastings and New Trier.
