Jurgen and Vina Will homesteaded in Sioux County, NE in 1889 in the area now owned by Doris and Nori Wickersham. Mrs. Will was born in Roseburg, Germany, January 15, 1851, and lived in Teeds Grove, Iowa prior to her marriage.
Mr. Will was a Civil War veteran. They were the parents of Jerry, Theresa, Henry, Claus, John, Ella, Emil, Otto, Elsie and Fern. Jurgen died when Elsie was five years old, after which the family moved to Lusk, WY where Vina engaged in cattle ranching.
A few years later, they returned to Harrison, NE and Vina operated two hotels. Theresa (Tracy) was at one time employed in the hotel operated by Mrs. Eggert Rohwer. Elsie received most of her education here. They later moved to Denver, CO where Elsie met and married a construction worker, Fred Ahlich. They lived in Walsenburg, CO, Pueblo, CO and then Santa Fe, NM where Elsie owned and operated the Hotel La Casa and was active in the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce.
Fern married Frederick Unfug, who operated a Chevrolet garage in Walsenburg. Her mother spent her later years with Fern.
Shortly before Fern's death, Elsie moved to Walsenburg, CO where she lived with her adopted son, Charles Robert (Bob) Armour. Here, Elsie was an active civic worker, and president of the Walsenburg Civic League. Elsie, born in Harrison, NE August 24, 1891, died March 18, 1985, and is buried in a Masonic cemetery, presumably at Walsenburg. Boies Almont was in charge of arrangements. Elsie's father, Jurgen Will is buried in the Harrison cemetery.
(In some records, Vina was referred to as Vena.)
