He was born October 18, 1924, at Marion, Mo., the son of George I. and Laura Lee DEARING FLETCHER, who preceded him in death. He was married May 8, 1947, in North Kansas City Baptist Church to Carey Lou ECKENBERGER, who survives at the home.
He worked 38 years as a service man for Missouri Power and Light and Union Electric, retiring in 1985. He was a lifetime member of Centertown Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee. He was a member of American Legion Post #531 in Centertown, MO. He attended school in Jamestown and Wellington, Mo. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 - 1946 during the World War II with most of the tour in South Pacific.
Other survivors include two sons, Dale FLETCHER with his wife Diane of Jefferson City, Mo., and Keith FLETCHER with his wife Trudie of Centertown, ; one daughter Karen GRIGGS with her husband Steve of Holts Summit.; three grandchildren Caleb GRIGGS, Sarah GRIGGS, Clayton FLETCHER,; and one great-granddaughter, Jayce GRIGGS.
He was preceded in death by two sister Geraldine RUSSELL and Pauline LANE.
Service will be held at Centertown Baptist Church, Monday December 18, 2006 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. John GORHAM and Rev.David WAGNER. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2006, 4-6 p.m., at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service;, California, MO.
