Carole Alivia (Abel) Holestine died May 24, 2012, in Tulsa at the age of 78.

Carole was born April 30, 1934 in Tulsa to Ervin Watts and Lonie Alivia (Wren) Abel.

She was raised and educated in Tulsa and graduated with the Webster High School Class of 1953. She continued her education attending Connors State College in Warner.

On Dec. 22, 1957, Carole married Robert Holestine in Tulsa.

Carole spent much of her working life as a preschool director and teacher at Sandusky Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa. She also volunteered with Vacation Bible School and various children's activities. She also served as a leader with the Girl Scouts of America.

Carole enjoyed a variety of pastimes, such as music, art and cooking when she was able. Most important to her was her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lester Abel, Wonk Abel, Clyde Abel, Clifford Abel, Chester Abel and Junior Abel; and sisters, Geneva Abel and Bernice Thoele.

Visitation was from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso, with Pastor John Winstead, Pastor Bob Haywood and Steve Holestine officiating.

Committal services and interment followed at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Clarehouse at 7617 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74133, or Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America at 12801 North Central Expressway, Suite 270, Dallas, Texas, 74243.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
