Joseph Dreher, of Baldwinsville, died Thursday, his 93rd birthday, at Crouse Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Dreher, son of Joseph Michael Dreher and Gertrude Anna Neukom, was born on May 24, 1919, in Terre Haute, IN. He was a graduate of State High School, Terre Haute, and Rose Polytechnic Institute, also of Terre Haute, where he received a degree in electrical engineering in 1941. He was employed by General Electric Company from 1941 through 1985, his tenure interrupted by four years active duty during WWII as an officer in the Corps of Engineers, two years of which were spent in Iceland. In 1947 he moved to Baldwinsville, having been relocated by General Electric to Electronics Park. An amateur radio enthusiast licensed for almost 80 years, Mr. Dreher was active in local "ham" affairs. He was an active communicant of St. Mary's Church in Baldwinsville, where he served as usher and lector for many decades. He also spent much time as a volunteer, serving various community needs. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, the former Karolyn Trout; a son, Stephen J. (Judith) of Baldwinsville; a daughter, Elizabeth Jane Connell (Steven Rosen) of Muskegon, Michigan; four grandchildren, Joseph B. Dreher of St. Louis, Elizabeth (Michael) Tillstrom of Ostersund, Sweden, Amy Dreher of Brooklyn and Rebecca Dreher of Buffalo; and two great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church in Baldwinsville. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Contributions in lieu of flowers to St. Mary's Church, 47 Syracuse Street, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
