Goldie Magdalena Silva Heil was born on April 3, 1909 at the Moneystock Farm in Wagner, SD to Jacob & Anna (Schelske) Heil. She and her sister Amanda were the only two of nine children to survive to adulthood.

Goldie married Lloyd W. Paul on Jan. 28, 1934 in Wagner, SD. They lived and worked the family farm where their only child Marvin was born. They moved to another farm near Tripp and stayed there until moving into Tripp in 1941.

Goldie was an avid gardener and was noted for growing beautiful flowers with huge blooms. Until the time she came to live in Sioux Falls, she continued to plant a garden and harvest and can the fruits and vegetables she grew. Her greatest love was the Lord and her family of grand and great grand children. She was well known for her talents in needlework and quilting, but always had time for a game of pinochle or marbles. Goldie seldom missed a Friday evening get together with the marble champions of Tripp.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in 1988 and her sister Amanda.

She is survived by her son Marvin and his wife Jan of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Carmen (Mrs. Jeff) Ross, Hot Springs, SD, LaVern, Duane, Daniel Paul, Sioux Falls, Russell, Oklahoma City, OK, Larry Thompson, Caddo Mills, TX. Three step granddaughters, Andrae Thompson, Sioux Falls, Mrs. Paul (Denae) Baustian, Harrisburg, Mrs. Brad (Janine) Heiden, Sioux Falls; 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and nine step great-great-grandchildren.
