Samuel Denny suffered a heart attack at his home north of Eldon and died August 29. He was born October 27, 1866, and was the son of Thomas B. and Joanna Denny. Two brothers, John and James Denny, and a sister, Mrs. Elbert Hill, preceded him in death.

Mrs. Denny was married to Miss Ellen Phillips in January 1897. Mrs. Denny died in May of the same year. He was again married February 26, 1899, to Rebecca Reynolds, who, with three sons, Ralph, Ernest and Roscoe Denny, all of Eldon, survive with many other relatives and a host of friends.

Early in life Mr. Denny was converted and became a member of the Green Ridge Baptist Church. He lived a consecrated Christian life, was a loving husband, a kind and willing father, and a neighbor who was always willing to lend a helping hand when duty called.

Funeral services were held at Green Ridge Church by the Rev. H.W. Allee of Olean, at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon and burial was made in the Green Ridge Cemetery.
