Mark Wallace Garrett left this life May 18, 2012. He is the son of Joseph and Barbara Patterson Garrett, born in Salt Lake City on February 12, 1930. He graduated from East High School and Brigham Young University and taught biology in the Granite School District for 30 years. Mark loved nature. Flowers, honeybees and birds were important to him; they were his friends. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Following his military service, he was called on a mission to Finland. On March 28, 1956, he married Raili Lehoniemi, whom he lovingly called his "Mission Souvenir," in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Mark served faithfully in many church callings. During his senior years he was immersed in family history work. Thousands of people welcomed him to heaven. He was a kind, humble man, loved by many.
Mark is survived by his wife, Raili, and son Bruce (Elizabeth). Alora, Adam and Allison remember their Papa Mark lovingly. He is also survived by brothers Ray (DeLora), Ralph (Alta, deceased) and Max (Maxine); sister Ruth (Everett, deceased) Mackay and many nephews, nieces and friends.
