James Monroe Akers Jr., 61, of Tunnelton, WV passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Grafton City Hospital.

He was born January 15, 1951 in Newburg, son of the late James Monroe Sr. and Susan Virginia Plum Akers.

James was self-employed as a construction worker in Virginia. He loved hunting, fishing, ginsenging, and riding his 4-wheeler. He served in the US Army.

Surviving are two step-daughters, Brenda Riley and Robbie, Lola Westbrook all of Tunnelton; seven step grandchildren; two sisters, Linda S Nelson and James of Tunnelton, Lulabelle Barker and Roy of Newburg; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family and friends were received at Bolyard Funeral Home, Newburg, WV, Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m, and will be received Friday, May 18, 2012 from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Delbert Lyons officiating.

A special thank you to Grafton City Hospital second floor, and Taylor County Hospice.

Interment will follow at the Shay's Chapel Cemetery.
