Harold "Bud" Guy McCreary, Jr. 76 of Kellogg, Idaho passed away April 23, 2012 at the Hospice House, Hospice of North Idaho in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was born Sept. 12, 1935 in Troutdale, Ore.; Bud was the son of Harold G. Sr and Rossie (Coffman) McCreary.
Bud attended and graduated from Gresham High School in Gresham, Ore., in 1954. He helped and worked on the family ranch in Oregon until his parents passed away. Bud served in the U.S. Army.
Bud moved to the Silver Valley in the early 1970's. He married Mary Swigart Wiles on Jan. 1, 1979 in Coeur d'Alene.
Bud co-owned and operated a small mine here in the Silver Valley. He also owned and operated, along with his wife Mary, the Turnbow Motel of Kellogg. Bud also served as a janitor for the Kellogg School District, working at the Sunnyside Elementary and the Kellogg Junior High School until his retirement.
Bud was a member of the Knights of Pythias and a member of the Ham Radio Testers Club. He loved and enjoyed his ham radio, classical music, old vinyl records and cameras and photography. Bud was a wonderfful and generous friend and neighbor to many; always willing to help, he was one of the nicest men you could ever meet.
Bud is survived by three children, Patricia Kerns of Bonney Lake, Wash.,Linda Ackaret of Nine Miles Falls, Wash., and Robert Wiles of Auburn, Wash.; one sister, Mary Ann Kehrl of Troutdale, Ore.; he is also survived by one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary in 1998 and six brothers and sisters.
Cremation was held and Inurnment graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg.
Shoshone Funeral Services and Crematory of Kelloggg is entrusted with arrangements.
