Orpha was the daughter of Ruby May Swift Owenby Ingram and Ira Juan Owenby. She was raised in California and lived in Glendale, Oregon for about 30 years before moving to Bremerton, Washington due to poor health and to be near her son, Richard Ray 'Dick' Bryden. She was first married to William 'Vernon' Bryden several years. She was later married to James 'Jim' Reese. Orpha and Jim resided in Glendale raising organically grown vegetables and running a boarding house for the BLM workers. Orpha was an excellent seamstress and gardener. Orpha also worked as a grocery checker in the market in Glendale while Jim did a newspaper route and did a little gold prospecting.
