Picarillo. of Corning, suddenly disappeared
while visiting his brother here
on Tuesday: Two boys said that they
saw Picarillo crossing a railroad bridge
over the R a r i t a n river Tuesday morning,
when his hat blew off and fell into the
river. Picarillo. the boys said, started
to walk in the shallow river after his
hat, when he suddenly sank out of. sight
and failed to come to the surface. The
story told by the boys was given little
credence, but when Picarillo failed to
r e t u r n after an absence of two days, his
brother became alarmed and offered $10
for the recovery of his body. The body
has been brought to the surface by the
heavy vibration of thunder. It was discovered
that Picarillo, while reaching
after his hat in two feet, of water, slipped
into a hole fifteen feet deep.
