Inez Mitchell Biggers

Inez Mitchell Biggers, age 93, a resident of Cleveland, passed away early Monday morning in a local hospital. Heaven welcomed another blessed soul to heaven! Mrs. Biggers was the daughter of the late Sadie Cassandra Whitten Mitchell and Joseph Ira Mitchell. Her brothers, Joe Mitchell Jr., Garland Mitchell and Mack Mitchell also preceded her in death. Mrs. Biggers was a graduate of the Grenada High School in Grenada, where she was valedictorian. She served as secretary to the editor at White Wing Publishing Company with the Church of God of Prophecy in 1941.

After she was married and along with her husband, they pastored in Mississippi and after retirement in Illinois. They served as State Overseers to Mississippi, Oregon, East Texas, West Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Kentucky, and Arkansas. They were in ministry for over 70 years! Mrs. Biggers enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, quilting, canning, reading, working crossword puzzles and working on jigsaw puzzles. She was an excellent cook, and it was often said that she "expressed her love for her family and friends through her cooking." Mrs. Biggers was a 30-year member of the Keith Street Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include her children, Larry Biggers and his wife, Janet, Beverly Roach, Rickey Biggers and his wife, Shelia, Cindy Stone and her husband, Michael; her grandchildren, Brannon Biggers and his wife, Weslynn Biggers, Alan Biggers and his wife, Denee, Carrie Bishop and her husband, Brandon, Rebecca Rodgers and her husband, Jason, Lacynda Biggers, Kristina Schwenk and her husband, Chris, Tamara Biggers, Cassie Moore, Taylor Stone, Mark Stone; her great-grandchildren, Kathryn Bishop, Michael Bishop, Lillian Bishop, Paige Rodgers, Adelaide Biggers; and her sister, Joy Mitchell Williams.

The Remembrance of Life Service was conducted Thursday morning at 11 a.m. from the Keith Street Church of God of Prophecy with pastor John Stone officiating. The body was viewed at the church from 10 until 11 Thursday. Graveside services and interment will be conducted Friday, May 18, at 2 p.m., from the McCurtains Creek Cemetery in Choctaw County, Mississippi with the Rev. Clint Knowles officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends in Mississippi on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oliver Funeral Home, 609 Hwy. 9 South, Eupora, MS 39744. The family requests that memorials be made to the Biggers-Trassell Reunion Fund, c/o Larry Biggers, 8940 Moore Rd., Columbus, GA 31904.

The family received friends in Cleveland, Tenn., on Wednesday, May 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Home, who had charge of the arrangements.
